In the CED's webcast studio you can easily produce video presentations on your own, which you can use in your teaching.
With a few simple steps, you can record videos of yourself while showing PowerPoint, screencasts, a digital whiteboard, software demonstrations, and the like.
The videos are instantly uploaded to AU's video platform, Panopto, so that they can easily be embedded in Brightspace.
In the studio, there is a PC from which you can run your slides or other presentation material. The computer is connected to a large touchscreen that acts as a digital whiteboard on which you can write and draw.
Webcast productions are recorded in two tracks – so-called picture-in-picture. In this way, the image of you in front of the touchscreen and the computer input are recorded separately. Thus, both tracks will be displayed side by side in the finished video.
The sound is recorded with a microport kit, which is a small lapel microphone connected to a transmitter coupled with the camera.
The studio was established through a collaboration with Associate Professor Jan Arlt from the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
In the studieo there is also a lightboard, which is a glass board where light is projected into the sides of the glass. The light makes everything you write on the glass become extra clear. This allows you to create advanced calculations without losing details. At the same time, you face the board and your audience, making it easier to write – the studio automatically mirrors the recordings so viewers can see what you are writing.
You can record yourself behind the lightboard while superimposing presentations on the recordings. This allows you to, for example, annotate your presentations, add graphs, and other types of animations to your presentation.
The studio can be booked in Outlook. You can also contact the CED for booking.
