Educational technology overview

The CED makes several educational technologies and digital tools available, which you can use for both in- and out-of-class activities.

The CED makes a variety of educational technologies available, which you can use to design the right educational mix of learning activities in your course. In this way, you can combine different types of in- and out-of-class activities.

Identify your educational needs

Consider the following when choosing a educational technology:

  1. Start by identifying the learning outcomes of your course
  2. Plan activities that realise the outcomes
  3. Define what properties an educational technology should have for the activities to be carried out
  4. Seek inspiration from colleagues, at AU Educate, or contact the CED to get the optimal use of the educational technology

What educational technologies are available?

You and your students have access to a number of technologies, several of which are built into AU's learning management system, Brightspace.

The CED has entered a contract with the suppliers so that both data security and the GDPR are in order. This concerns the technologies below in which the CED also offers educational and technical support.

Brightspace

Brightspace is AU’s learning management system (LMS). The system houses a multitude of functions to facilitate teaching, which ensures progression between different learning activities, for example, with varying in-class and out-of-class activities and different forms of feedback.

Padlet

From the beginning of the new year, AU will replace Padlet with TaskCards as the digital platform for collaborative learning activities. The change is due to a significant price increase for Padlet, necessitating a more cost-efficient alternative.

All Padlet users received direct information about this via email on 19 November 2024.

Panopto

Panopto is a video platform. With the platform, you can record and share videos from your computer and activate students when they watch the videos with, for example, quizzes, debates, and automatic indexing. In addition, Panopto makes it possible to record and stream classes from lecture theatres.
