At the CED, we engage in large and small research projects within university pedagogy. Our research is based on practice and is aimed at implementation in practice. We prefer to work in an interdisciplinary manner with a variety of methods and theories. We conduct research and publish in close collaboration with AU’s academic environments and other Danish and international research environments.

'Academic Reflection Rooms' aims to improve students' academic competencies and overall well-being by exploring the challenges they face as learners, analysing the root causes, and developing effective strategies to overcome them.

Designing Engaging University Teaching

The research aims to study how university teaching can become truly engaging. This involves addressing cognitive, emotional, and conational aspects.

The EDULEAD project – A study of academics with add-on responsibilities

This project seeks to examine how organisations as social systems actualise and enable the role and function of the educational leader.

PACET: Patient-Centered Educational Technologies

This project aims to establish best practices for patient-centered educational technologies that integrate biomedical, sociocultural, and existential perspectives in the field of psychiatry education.

Practice architectures of clinical educational leadership

This project aims to explore and develop the pedagogical practices of educational leaders who work at the crossroads between undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education.

Retention in higher education – new perspectives

This project aims to improve our understanding of how universities can foster student agency during first-year educational programmes.

Rethinking teaching and learning in the age of GenAI

In a series of studies, we focus on two key areas: (1) educators’ and students’ AI literacy, perceptions, and experiences, and (2) the impact of GenAI tools within learning environments.

Teaching for Meaningful Learning – Innovative teaching frameworks for a better future

This project seeks to describe and provide suggestions for how learning can become meaningful in order to support a new generation of students to become proactive democratic citizens.

Teaching for the Neurodiverse Classroom

This project focuses on exploring experiences in which teaching in neurodiverse classrooms has led to successful collaboration, co-creation, and learning, while also developing activities and frameworks to further support all students, regardless of neurotype, in thriving and developing both as individuals and in teams.

Teaching in Medicine and Health Sciences Education

A network of studies exploring the relationship between, on the one hand, the development of "practical sense" and academic teacher identities and, on the other hand, context-specific educational sites such as clinical workplace learning at hospitals, faculty development at research-intensive universities, and peer mentoring processes among faculty in health sciences education.
