This university pedagogical programme is for consulting researchers (research-based public sector services) in assistant professor, tenure or postdoc positions at Aarhus University, who wish to qualify for a lectureship according to regulations on academic positions at universities.
The objective of the programme is partly to contribute to the development and professionalisation of the participants’ practical university pedagogical teaching competencies, partly to develop the participants’ communication skills regarding both teaching and consultancy practices. The programme is organised to meet competence level 2 of Danish Universities’ common framework for advancing university pedagogy. It is mandatory to complete both University pedagogical programme for consulting researchers and Research-based public sector consultancy at Technical Sciences (in either order) to qualify for a lectureship.

The programme is designed to support consulting researchers enhancing both their teaching and communication practices. This happens through theoretical and practical presentations and exercises, which will enable the participants to create coherence in their teaching practice by applying university pedagogical key concepts and principles, learning design and didactic models. Throughout the course the participants will in addition develop a rhetorical toolkit, which enables them to engage competently in different communication situations. Together, the two tracks equip participants with the skills to intervene in/enhance their own teaching and communication practices.

The course has a total scope of 75 hours. Approximately 25 hours are in-person activities, including an online kick-off meeting, three seminar days, supervision sessions, and a final meeting. The remaining hours are allocated for preparation and work on the participant's own development project.
The entire course runs over one semester.

In addition, there will be two supervision sessions of 1.5 hours each, as well as a final meeting.
As the final part of the course, each participant is expected to present their development project to colleagues and their manager within their section. This can be done, for example, as a point on a regular section meeting agenda or as a separate event. Details about each dissemination will be provided during the course. The participant will present their project (5-7 minutes), followed by time for feedback, questions, and discussion (approximately 10 minutes).
