Quizzes and automated feedback in teaching

Objective

Are you curious about how quizzes and automated feedback can strengthen your teaching activities? 
In this workshop, we explore the pedagogical potential of quizzes and automated feedback as learning activities. We also look at how students can work with generating quizzes themselves and how generative AI can be applied. 

This workshop focuses on the following tools: 

  • Quiz in Brightspace 
  • Creator+ in Brightspace 
  • Microsoft 365 Forms 
  • Mentimeter 

Learning outcome

After the workshop, you will: 

  • Have concrete ideas on how to use the different tools to support student participation and learning. 
  • Have knowledge about how quizzes and automated feedback can be integrated into both synchronous and asynchronous teaching activities. 
  • Have insight into how quizzes can be used for both formative and summative feedback. 

Content

In the workshop, we will work with: 

  • Technical setup in the relevant tools 
  • Potentials for formative and summative feedback
  • Principles for crafting good questions 
  • Teaching examples ranging from large question banks to smaller in-class interactions 
  • Generative AI and opportunities related to building quizzes
