Engaging and involving teaching

The purpose of the workshop is for the participants to have the opportunity to develop or rethink their own teaching practice using engaging and involving activities with a focus on the student's learning process.

Learning outcome

Based on the workshop, the participants will have:

  • Knowledge of opportunities to develop engaging and involving teaching for students.
  • Skills in developing and planning engaging and involving teaching activities for students in own practice.

Content

The workshop will include an introduction to current research on engaging and involving teaching, including active learning at the university. During the workshop, participants will gain experience with different evidence-based teaching practices.
The participants will also work to create varied teaching with profitable participation opportunities for all students in their own practice. We will take the participants through a series of exercises and discussions, where we work with important aspects of engaging and involving teaching.
The workshop will, among other things, offer:

  • Active learning and activity formats Scaffolding of teaching
  • Facilitating discussions
  • Opportunities to identify development potential in own teaching practice through dialogue with other participants
  • Opportunity to develop own teaching practice.

It will be an advantage if there is more than one participant from the programme.

The workshop reflects 3A in the Danish framework for advancing university pedagogy which says:

  • masters a broad spectrum of teaching and thesis supervision practices
  • can develop, innovate, and experiment with teaching and supervisory practices.
