AARHUS BSS: Brightspace – Basic course


The workshop aims to introduce to AU's new learning platform Brightspace and ease the transition from Blackboard. The main purpose of the workshop is to provide an overview and guidance on how to use the primary functions in Brightspace.

Learning outcome

The workshop is intended to enable participants to

  • Become able to navigate in Brightspace.
  • Become able to communicate to students.
  • Become able to design course structure and create content.
  • Knowing the possibilities of integrating learning activities into Brightspace. 


The workshop is primarily for employees at Aarhus BSS, who will teach on courses in Brightspace.

During the workshop, a demonstration of a prototypical course and an overview of primary functions in Brightspace is given. The workshop focus on activities such as uploading material, the opportunities for communication with the students and the creation of learning activities. In addition, there will be time to address the participants' own problems and find solutions to specific queries.

Before the workshop, you can log on to https://brightspace.au.dk/ and orient yourself in your ‘Sandbox’, which is a trial course.

Online workshops

On-campus workshops


  • Faculty: Aarhus BSS
  • Duration: approx. 1½ hours
  • No. of participants: max. 20
  • About the on-campus workshops: Participants must bring their own laptop.
  • About the online workshops: You will receive a Zoom link before the start of the course.
  • The courses will consist of short presentations and hands-on activities on your own Brightspace course.
  • The courses are of 1½ hour duration. Afterwards participants can get individual support.
